Labs

Here at ZaaLabs, we are fascinated by technology. We constantly find ourselves experimenting with new technologies and concepts, which we share here. Remember that anything released here is experimental, and provided as-is.

ZaaIL

ZaaIL allows for 40+ image format support for Flash. Using Adobe’s Alchemy toolset we created a working port of DevIL on the Adobe Flash Platform! This means that we now have support for 40+ image formats in the Flash Player. And yes, it works in both Adobe AIR as well as Flash Player.

ZaaTV

At ZaaLabs, we love what we do. ZaaTV is a website dedicated to helping others learn to do what we do. Our goal is to try and post a video at least once a week.

ZaaImbue

ZaaImbue is a dead-simple injection system for for Flash.

ZaaMulti

While doing Flash development on mobile devices, we learned that communication between multiple devices on wasn’t very straight forward. ZaaMulti is our library that allows for inter-network device discovery, and communication.

ZaaUtils

ZaaUtils is a collection of our one-off utility methods that we find helpful. Right now it’s slim-pickings, but we plan to add more over time.

Right now the features in ZaaUtils are:

Seeker and SeekAIR

Modern cell phones frequently include a camera and a GPS. Even if a GPS is not included, cell phone towers can be used to establish the location of the phone. Image formats include special headers that can be used to store this information called EXIF tags.

We wrote a ruby script which can download shared images for specific twitter users. Then we have a ruby script which analyzes the images and parses out the GPS data.

At this time we’re not releasing Seeker or SeekAIR.
